Cerrito Blanco, painted in oil, is a land formation in New Mexico. As one is approaching Abiquiu, you round a turn and the mesa rises fairly near the highway. It's arresting conical form is deceiving, as the rest of the mesa trails behind it for several miles, but can't be seen here. The Chama River runs between the distant trees and the butte. The stark dry landscape of New Mexico has been held sacred for thousands of years, and one feels awed at every turn.
